The first thing that comes to mind when we hear about “Healthy Eating” is a plate filled with Lettuce, Spinach, Avocados and little or no Carbohydrate.
I am very sure you have thought like this too at some point.
I remember a client I worked with in 2021. This client was referred to me by a friend and I had to give my all to make sure she was going to be satisfied with my services.
So we fixed an appointment to have a zoom call where I would get to know her and understand what her health goals are(This is a vital step for anyone who wants to work with me).
On a bright Wednesday morning, we had a call and she was so lovely and friendly to talk with. Just few minutes into the call, she said to me: ‘Please I hope you wont tell me to eat healthy because I am tired”
I was surprised. I smiled and asked her; what is wrong with healthy eating?
She said the last two Coaches asked her to eat healthy and they included almost all the vegetables in the world for her to eat. The worst part was that she didn’t like most of the meals.
I couldn’t hold it back, and I laughed and told her to relax.
That call turned into a beautiful conversation where she unlearned and relearned what Healthy Eating is. And I am about to do that with you too.
Lets break it down, shall we?
WHAT IS HEALTHY EATING?
Healthy eating is the practice or behavior to eat meals that maintains or improves overall health. A healthy diet provides the body with essential nutrition: fluid, macronutrients such as protein, Carbohydrate and micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals.
That being said, A healthy diet is a diet that contains all six classes of food.
Healthy eating means eating a balanced diet. Its very simple.
WHY IS IT HARD FOR MOST PEOPLE?
We all know that eating healthy is important for maintaining a strong and active lifestyle, but sometimes it can be difficult to make healthy eating a priority in our busy lives. Whether we're juggling work, school, or family responsibilities, it's easy to fall into the habit of relying on fast food almost every time or convenience meals that may not be the best for our bodies.
No one is perfect. I actually battled with this issue for a while before I realized the simple method to eat healthy.
But it's important to remember that making healthy eating a priority doesn't have to be a daunting task. With a little planning and preparation, you can easily incorporate nutritious foods into your daily routine.
Here are a few tips to help you get started:
Plan your meals in advance: Take some time each week to plan out your meals for the coming days. This will help you avoid last-minute trips to the drive-thru or making unhealthy choices when you're short on time. I am so pumped writing this letter to you because one of my expertise as a Nutrition Coach is Meal planning and Meal prepping. So if you want to learn how to do this, read this letter till the end and check out the links I will attach to this letter. I trust you will.
Make a grocery list and stick to it: Before you head to the store, take stock of what you already have in your pantry and fridge and make a list of what you need. This will help you avoid impulse purchases of unhealthy snacks or overprocessed foods.
The truth is we must not buy everything we see at the market or supermarket.
Keep healthy snacks on hand: Having healthy snacks available can help you avoid reaching for unhealthy options when hunger strikes, because hunger will strike and if you do not have the full amour to make good food choices, there will be an issue. Some ideas for healthy snacks include nuts, fruit, and vegetables with hummus or guacamole.
Get creative in the kitchen: Don't be afraid to try new recipes or ingredients! There are so many delicious and healthy meal options out there, you're bound to find something that fits your taste buds. I have a gift for you. Its at the end of this Letter.
By making healthy eating a priority, you'll not only feel better physically, but you'll also have more energy and be better able to tackle all of the tasks and responsibilities that come your way. So don't be afraid to make a few changes to your diet - your body (and taste buds) will thank you!
I trust that you will take intentional steps everyday to make healthy eating a priority.
I am here to make it easy and seamless for you.

Awesome letter. Indeed, most health blogs can be misleading when it comes to the real meaning of healthy living and healthy meals. Thank you for this good clarification.
